Mommy Makeover Surgery
The mommy makeover is a combination procedure that works to sculpt your body back to its pre-pregnancy look. Women who have multiple areas of concern such as their breasts, abdomen, waist, and legs can benefit from this surgery. Mommy makeover is not a weight loss substitute, exercise and a healthy diet should already be part of the lifestyle of patients seeking this surgery.
Who is a Candidate for Mommy Makeover Surgery?
Women who have multiple concerns such as sagging breasts, loose skin, excess fat, and more can benefit from this surgery. This combination surgery was created with women who have undergone pregnancy and childbirth in mind. It uses multiple procedures such as breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction, tummy tuck, liposuction, and thigh lift to sculpt your body back to how it used to be. Patients who have already finished losing the baby weight and are close to their goal weight are good candidates. They should also be done having children prior to this surgery.
Your Consultation Visit
During your consultation, we evaluate your medical history and take note of any previous surgeries. Then, we discuss your concerns and the steps with the mommy makeover procedure along with possible risks. Feel free to ask any questions that you may have during this time. After the evaluation, your treatment options for the customized mommy makeover surgery will be discussed. You are welcome to take a tour of our accredited surgery center so that you can see and be comfortable with where your surgery will be performed. If you have any questions about payment, our patient care coordinator will provide pricing information and financing options.
The Procedure
During the mommy makeover surgery, there will be multiple incisions used for each procedure. For breast surgeries, incisions are typically made in the breast fold or around the areola. For tummy tuck, a horizontal incision is made from hipbone to hipbone. For liposuction, a very tiny incision is made near the fat pocket. During the surgery, your doctor will sculpt your breasts to your desired size, shape, and contour. They will also remove excess skin and fat on the stomach and repair the abdominal muscles. As well as removing fat from other areas on the body as well. Each mommy makeover surgery is different because it is customized to each patients’ specific desires.
Anesthesia
Due to the extent of this surgery, general anesthesia is used for your comfort and safety. The procedure is very individualized. Depending on the surgeries chosen, it can take anywhere from three to six hours.
Meet The Doctor
With over 25 years of experience as a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Y. Anthony Nakamura places patient safety, comfort, and satisfaction at the foremost of each procedure he performs.
Recovery
After the surgery, your incisions will be bandaged, and you will be dressed in a compression garment. The garment helps to support your tissues while you heal as well as promote blood circulation and manage swelling. You will feel sore for the first few days following surgery and will experience some discomfort; this can be managed with medication prescribed by your doctor. You will have your post-op visit about one week after surgery. It is important to begin walking after surgery to promote healing and reduce any chance of blood clots.
Recovery varies for individuals. Some patients return to work within 10 days while others may need a little longer. It takes about six weeks to return to normal daily activities and regain endurance levels. Most patients enjoy their results at this point but will notice continuing improvement for up to six months post-op. During your post-op visits, we will continue to work with you on your individual care.
